Early 1800s Mountain wagon. So called because it was commissioned by mine owners to get to their mines up in the rugged mountains. It has a shorter footprint than most wagons so it could take tighter turns on the mountain switchbacks. I found this beauty rotting away in a pioneer dump near Chelan wa in 1988. I took it to the talented folkes at Canyon City Carriage Works near John Day Ore in 1990. They researched more than 6 months to figure out what it was and were pleasantly surprised to find out it was a mountain wagon because there are so few of these left. There are only 100 known to exist. It has a drop down tailgate &removeable rear seat for ease of loading cargo or luggage. It is a double spring for riding comfort (springs in front &back &sides). It has a toeboard so you can stretch out your legs. Very few came with this feature because it was considered an upgrade. It has double bent staves for added strength. All origional hand forged iron. Body is oak &the wheels are hickory.i had rubber put on the wheels so it could be ran on floors or on the roadway without doing damage to either. It is light enough for a saddle horse to pull. It is light enough for 2 people to load it on a flatbed truck or in a Uhaul (how i got it to Shelton). It was in eastern washington till 3 years ago when i brought it to shelton. This is a classy carriage type wagon not a freight type wagon. It has ALWAYS been garaged. It has NEVER been hitched. It has NEVER been on the road. I believe that if you have nice things that they should be seen and appreciated. Sitting in my garage, it doesnt get seen. It would be a beautiful addition to your collection or a definate attention getter for a business. Pictures dont do it justice. You must lay eyes on it. I will consider all offers. I will consider part trade. Dont try to scam. Already been there. Cash talks. Any questions or for more info please call . I would rather communicate on the phone.
